Deacon arrived in England in the late 1890s and befriended the Duke of Marlboroughs first wife Consuelo. The word obey was apparently omitted from her wedding vows. There is very minor rippling to the sheet and handling creases are visible in the corners. She had three sisters and a brother who died in infancy. Gladys Deacon is a name that appears regu arly in any material written about the Edwardian Age- from the late 19th century into the early 20th century. There are a few scattered tiny nicks to the sheet and mat staining at the extreme edges (not visible in current framing).
